I want to spend my money...mom does not approve.?

i've baby sat for two years now and i have saved $ 3,000 up (some of it is grad money) and i want to go shopping with 1,000 for new school clothes :p and save the rest for college and things I'll need(books,ETC). my mom says it's not a good idea, but i think it's my money and i could of spent it all when i got it but i chose to save it all. any input?
